2022年、世界ではかつてないほどの食料危機に直面しており、気候危機、紛争、経済的負荷、新型コロナウイルス感染症の影響などが相まって世界で最大8億2,800万人もの人々が飢えや栄養不足に苦しんでいます。さらにウクライナ危機の影響は、食料不安の状況をさらに深刻化・長期化させており、来年も記録的な飢餓に陥るリスクがあるとされています。世界的な食料危機に直面しているなか、日本にいる多くの私たちにとって飢餓を身近に感じにくい面があります。しかし、飢餓は決して遠い国の問題ではありません。

WFP News Release 26 October 2006 SHORTAGE OF DONATIONS IMPACT SAHRAWI REFUGEES IN ALGERIA ALGIERS – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP)) is facing increasing difficulties in providing food assistance to Sahrawi refugees living in remote camps near Tindouf in southwest Algeria – a concern also shared by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

WFP ASSISTS SAHRAWI REFUGEES HIT BY TORRENTIAL RAINS Algiers - The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) will begin assisting 60,000 Sahrawi refugees living in the desert area near Tindouf who saw their homes and belongings washed away by three-days of rare torrential rains. “These people were already facing hardship. Now many are homeless and in urgent need of emergency assistance.

この報告書は飢餓の撲滅、食料安全保障の達成、栄養の改善に向けた進捗状況や、持続可能な開発のための2030アジェンダにおけるSDGsのターゲット2.1および2.2を達成するための主要な課題について詳細に分析します。 2024年のテーマは「飢餓、食料不安、あらゆる形の栄養不良をなくすための資金調達」です。食料安全保障と栄養のための資金調達における現状や不足を探るとともに、食料不安や栄養不良の主な要因に対処し、SDGsのターゲット2.1および2.2の達成に必要な農業・食料システムの変革に向けた、革新的な資金調達の選択肢に関する指針を提供します。

この要請は、WFPと国連食糧農業機関（FAO）が発表した「飢餓の『ホットスポット』報告書」の発表を受けたものです。同報告書では、南スーダンが飢餓と死を防ぐために人道支援が欠かせない「最も懸念される国」として特に警戒が必要としています。来年の人道支援で供給する食料が現在南スーダンに全くない状態であり、WFPは支援食料を前倒して準備するために4億400万米ドルの資金を必要としています。これができなければ、孤立したコミュニティを支援するために来年後半に高額な空中投下に依存せざるを得ず、最も深刻な飢餓に直面している人々への支援が滞る可能性があります。「支援資金を受け取ってから、実際に飢えた人々の手元に食料として届けるまでに数ヶ月かかることがあります。
