2022年、世界ではかつてないほどの食料危機に直面しており、気候危機、紛争、経済的負荷、新型コロナウイルス感染症の影響などが相まって世界で最大8億2,800万人もの人々が飢えや栄養不足に苦しんでいます。さらにウクライナ危機の影響は、食料不安の状況をさらに深刻化・長期化させており、来年も記録的な飢餓に陥るリスクがあるとされています。世界的な食料危機に直面しているなか、日本にいる多くの私たちにとって飢餓を身近に感じにくい面があります。しかし、飢餓は決して遠い国の問題ではありません。

チャド国境の町アドレの難民キャンプでは、祖国スーダンのポピュラーな民族音楽がスピーカーから繰り返し流れる中、アフマットさんが足踏みミシンに青い布を送り込んでいます。小さな木が、灼熱の太陽をかろうじて遮っています。 「このキャンプで私にできるのは仕立ての仕事だけです」曲に合わせて頭を揺らしながらこう話すのは35歳の縫製職人、アフマットさん（安全上の理由から名字は非公開）です。「持ち込まれた布をスーダンの民族衣装や、シャツ、ズボンに仕立てます」   アフマットさんが祖国を揺るがす紛争から逃れてチャドに避難したのは、この20年で2度目です。スーダンに平和が戻ることを願いつつも、当分は難しいのではないかとアフマットさんは考えています。 「私の子どもたちが学校に通えるよう、安定した国に住む必要があります」とアフマットさんは話します。

この報告書は飢餓の撲滅、食料安全保障の達成、栄養の改善に向けた進捗状況や、持続可能な開発のための2030アジェンダにおけるSDGsのターゲット2.1および2.2を達成するための主要な課題について詳細に分析します。 2024年のテーマは「飢餓、食料不安、あらゆる形の栄養不良をなくすための資金調達」です。食料安全保障と栄養のための資金調達における現状や不足を探るとともに、食料不安や栄養不良の主な要因に対処し、SDGsのターゲット2.1および2.2の達成に必要な農業・食料システムの変革に向けた、革新的な資金調達の選択肢に関する指針を提供します。

WFP HALTS IVORY COAST OPERATIONS IN WAKE OF VIOLENCE Abidjan - The United Nations World Food Programme warned today that continued uncertainty over the safety of WFP staff in Ivory Coast could have a disastrous effect on its operations to assist some of the most vulnerable people in the country, particularly in and around the western town of Guiglo.
