HISTORIC HUMANITARIAN HELICOPTER SERVICE WOUND UP IN PAKISTAN ISLAMABAD - The largest humanitarian helicopter operation ever organised by the United Nations ended today after having successfully transported nearly 30,000 tons of aid supplies and tens of thousands of aid workers and other passengers to the Pakistan-administered parts of Kashmir struck by a devastating earthquake eight months ago.

WFP SAYS ETHIOPIA FLOODING FAR FROM OVER: 118,000 AFFECTED ADDIS ABABA - With heavy rains continuing to pound much of Ethiopia, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) said today that 118,000 people - with hundreds killed or missing - have been hit by devastating floods in the past month and warned that the numbers of displaced, homeless and severely affected could rise further.

最新の総合的食料安全保障レベル分類 (IPC)分析によると、コンゴ民主共和国では、2,730万人、3人に1人の割合で、約700万人が緊急レベルの急性飢餓（IPC 4）に苦しんでいると推定されています。   これにより、コンゴ民主共和国は、緊急に食料安全保障の支援を必要とする人の数が世界で最も多い国となりました。   「今回、初めて人口の大部分を分析することができ、コンゴ民主共和国における食料不安の驚異的な規模の真相に迫ることができました。」と、国連WFPコンゴ民主共和国事務所ピーター・ムソコ代表は言います。「この国は国民を養い、余剰分の食料を輸出することができるはずです。子どもたちが空腹のまま眠りにつき、家族が丸一日食事を抜くようなことは許されません。

国連食糧農業機関（FAO）と国連世界食糧計画（WFP）が本日発表した「急性食料不安ホットスポットの早期警戒分析」では、紛争、経済衰退、気候の極端な変化、新型コロナウィルス パンデミックの有害な組み合わせが、人々を食料不安の緊急段階へとさらに追い込んでいると説明しています。   最も懸念される4つのホットスポットの人口の一部は、すでに危機的な飢餓状況を経験しています。報告書は、紛争の激化と人道的アクセスのさらなる減少が飢饉のリスクにつながる可能性があると警告しています。   しかし、これらの4カ国だけが世界地図上の唯一の「レッドフラッグ」であるわけではなく、様々な要因が重なって、世界的に深刻な食料不安のレベルが過去最高に達していることを示している、と報告書は指摘しています。他にも16カ国が急性飢餓レベルの上昇のリスクが高いとされています。
