アジスアベバ発−WFPのヘリコプターによる、エチオピア南東部の洪水被災地への支援物資の空輸が開始した。今回の洪水は80名の死者を出し、交通網に大きな被害を及ぼした。362,000人の被災者が生活手段を失い、122,500人が住居を失った。人道援助機関は、水を媒介したマラリアなどの病気の流行を懸念している。食糧支援のほかに、国連機関とエチオピア政府からの医療品や毛布、調理器具、水の浄化装置セットなどの食糧以外の物資もWFPのヘリコプターで空輸される。洪水で大きな被害を受けたソマリ地域では、今年初めにも干ばつによる深刻な被害を受けており、160万人が人道支援を必要としている。

この報告書は飢餓の撲滅、食料安全保障の達成、栄養の改善に向けた進捗状況や、持続可能な開発のための2030アジェンダにおけるSDGsのターゲット2.1および2.2を達成するための主要な課題について詳細に分析します。 2024年のテーマは「飢餓、食料不安、あらゆる形の栄養不良をなくすための資金調達」です。食料安全保障と栄養のための資金調達における現状や不足を探るとともに、食料不安や栄養不良の主な要因に対処し、SDGsのターゲット2.1および2.2の達成に必要な農業・食料システムの変革に向けた、革新的な資金調達の選択肢に関する指針を提供します。

HIV/AIDS AGGRAVATES CHRONIC HUNGER DESPITE BETTER HARVESTS IN SOUTHERN AFRICA JOHANNESBURG – The United Nations World Food Programme warned today that despite better harvests across southern Africa, more than three million people would remain short of food because of chronic vulnerability caused by grinding poverty and the world’s highest rates of HIV/AIDS.
