タチアナさんは毎朝、日の出前に起きて、30kmほど離れたモルドバ中部の都市クリウレニにある職業訓練学校に通います。 彼女はこの学校の料理長として40年間働いてきたことを誇りに思っていますが、今年から同校がウクライナ戦争からの避難民を受け入れ始めて以来、自分の仕事が特別な意味を持つようになりました。 「私はいつも、食べる人に故郷を思い出してもらえるような料理を作ろうと心がけています。ここで幸せになってほしいからです」と、タチアナさんは温かい笑顔で語ります。 1992年のモルドバで発生した紛争からの退避という幼少期の体験を持つ彼女は、戦争によって自分の世界全体が覆される気持ちを知っています。そのため、現在世話をしている人たちに思いやりと謙虚さをお裾分けすることを自分の使命としています。
