パリ発　−　9月7日よりフランスで開催されるラグビーワールドカップ2007において、WFPの人道支援パートナーである国際ラグビー評議会 (IRB)は“TACKLE HUNGER”(「飢餓にタックル」の意)キャンペーンを行うことを発表した。 オリンピック、サッカーワールドカップに続き、世界で3番目に大きいスポーツイベントとされている同大会では、多くのファンが会場やテレビを通して試合を観戦する。このキャンペーンは、試合を通して人々に世界の飢餓状況やWFPの活動について知ってもらうことを目的としている。 その中心的な役割を担っているのが、フランスチーム監督のベルナール・ラポルト氏であり、テレビや広告への出演を通して、人々に世界の飢餓状況について知ってもらうよう呼びかけている。こうした公共広告は、大会開催期間を通じてフランス国内外のテレビ番組、新聞や雑誌等で見ることができる。

WFP and Rai Net Join Forces to Bring Humanitarian Video Game to Italy Rome - An Italian version of "Food Force", the first humanitarian video game about world hunger, was launched today in Rome. After the success of the English and Japanese versions, an Italian game was developed by Rai Net in cooperation with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

3.5 MILLION KENYANS HIT BY DROUGHT IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE REPORT FINDS NAIROBI – The Government of Kenya and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) today announced that 3.5 million Kenyans are running out of food because of the complete failure of the short rains, nearly tripling the number Kenyans in need of emergency food assistance.

KENYA RAINS LOWER NUMBER NEEDING FOOD AID TO NEARLY 3 MILLION PEOPLE NAIROBI - Rains have reduced the number of Kenyans in need of food aid because of drought to nearly 3 million people from 3.5 million, the Government of Kenya and United Nations World Food Programme said today. WFP needs US$44 million to continue feeding them for six months.

リマ発 - WFP 国連世界食糧計画は、8月16日（日本時間）に発生したペルー沖地震の被災者に対して、50万ドル(約5千9百万円)にあたる緊急食糧支援の実施を発表した。 WFPはこの緊急食糧支援の他にも、130トンの栄養強化ビスケットをエクアドル経由で空輸及び陸運送で届ける準備を整えた。 WFPペルー所長ギ・ゴーヴローは、「地震による死亡者の増加が懸念され、早急な支援が求められる。流通システムが復旧するまで多くの震災を逃れた人々が緊急支援を必要とする。」と述べた。 また、ゴーヴローはWFPの食糧備蓄により、地震発生から12時間という短時間で支援開始が実現したと述べた。

RISING TIDE OF SOMALI REFUGEES STRAINS FOOD STOCKS IN KENYA'S CAMPS NAIROBI - Somali refugees escaping the conflict between the Union of Islamic Courts and the Transitional Federal Government have pushed the number of refugees in Kenya to the highest level in a decade, threatening to exhaust food aid stocks unless urgent donations are made, the United Nations World Food Programme said today.

WFP STARTS FOOD AIRLIFT TO CHILDREN IN EASTERN DRC, AMID FEARS OF FUNDING CRISIS KINSHASA - The United Nations World Food Programme said today that it has recently started airlifting urgent food aid to at least 8,800 needy people in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, although it has not yet received any funding pledges for next year’s operations.
