PHNOM PENH - The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) thanked Japanese football star Hidetoshi Nakata for donating soccer balls to Banteay Srei Primary School in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Nakata visited the school last week with WFP, which provides hot meals to 830 students there.

WFP WARNS FOOD RUNNING OUT IN BLOCKADED GAZA STRIP JERUSALEM – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) said today that food was running out in the Gaza Strip and appealed to the Israeli authorities to allow food consignments to reach the tens of thousands of people in Gaza who depend on food aid to survive.

WFP WARNS OF GROWING DESTITUTION AMONG PALESTINIANS JERUSALEM - From next month, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) will increase the number of people it feeds in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) by 25 percent from 480,000 to 600,000 non-refugees, in response to an escalating humanitarian crisis.

WFP News Release 26 October 2006 SHORTAGE OF DONATIONS IMPACT SAHRAWI REFUGEES IN ALGERIA ALGIERS – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP)) is facing increasing difficulties in providing food assistance to Sahrawi refugees living in remote camps near Tindouf in southwest Algeria – a concern also shared by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
