スーダン・ジュバ発−ＷＦＰは1月1１日、職員のエマニュエル・チャク・ジョセフ氏（２８）がスーダン南部で何者かによって殺害されたことを発表した。ここ数年でＷＦＰスタッフがスーダンで殺害されたのは初めてのことである。 ジョセフ氏はＷＦＰの現地ドライバーとして、ドイツ技術協力公社（GTZ）による道路建設プロジェクトに参加していた。殺害された日は、スーダン南部の都市・ジュバからトリトという町へ向かう途中であったが、途中で待ち伏せしていた何者かによって自動小銃による攻撃を受けた。この攻撃によって、同乗者のGTZ職員1名と、護衛に当たっていたスーダン人民解放軍（SPLA）の兵士2人が負傷した。 WFPは、自国の平和のために尽力してきたジョセフさんの死に深い悲しみを覚える。

この報告書は飢餓の撲滅、食料安全保障の達成、栄養の改善に向けた進捗状況や、持続可能な開発のための2030アジェンダにおけるSDGsのターゲット2.1および2.2を達成するための主要な課題について詳細に分析します。 2024年のテーマは「飢餓、食料不安、あらゆる形の栄養不良をなくすための資金調達」です。食料安全保障と栄養のための資金調達における現状や不足を探るとともに、食料不安や栄養不良の主な要因に対処し、SDGsのターゲット2.1および2.2の達成に必要な農業・食料システムの変革に向けた、革新的な資金調達の選択肢に関する指針を提供します。

当日は好天に恵まれ、大勢の皆さんがアフリカの子どもたちの飢餓をなくすために歩きました。参加総数は3,593人となり、参加費からの募金と会場に設置した募金箱へのご寄付を合わせて、合計3,510,568円が集まりました。これにより、およそ11万7千人の子どもたちに栄養たっぷりの給食を届けることができます。当日の様子はこちらからご覧ください。「WFPウォーク・ザ・ワールド for アフリカ」の専用WEBサイトでも、ご報告しております。
