生活必需品すら手に入らない人々に人道物資を届ける任務を担っていた、シリア赤新月社の勇敢な支援従事者、そして運転手の不条理な死を悔やむと同時に、ご遺族に対し謹んでお悔やみ申し上げます。しかしながら、国連WFPは、人道支援を脅かすこのような行為に臆することなく、シリアの人々の命を救う活動を引き続き行っていきます。この悲惨な紛争のすべての当事者に対し、国際法と人道支援の原則を尊重し、どこにいようと、誰であろうと、支援を必要とする何百万人ものシリアの市民へ支援を届けられるよう、無条件、無制限、かつ持続的な立ち入り許可を求めます。今、同志を失い悲しみに包まれているシリア赤新月社、赤十字国際委員会（ICRC）、国際赤十字・赤新月社連盟（IFRC）に対し心より哀悼の意を表します。

食料を生産することも輸入することも出来ない状況にあるガザでは、全人口が生きるための物資を支援に頼ざるを得ません。しかし人道支援だけでは、ガザの人びとの必要不可欠なニーズを満たすことはできません。国連、国際援助機関、非政府組織は、非常に困難な状況にもかかわらず、ガザ地区に限定的な人道支援物資を提供することに成功していますが、その量は、飢餓と栄養不良、病気の致命的な組み合わせを防ぐためには全く十分ではありません。食料、清潔な水、医療支援の不足は、特に北部の地域で深刻です。 南部の二か所を除くすべての国境検問所が閉鎖されているのに加えて、トラックの検問所チェックが何重にも実施されているため、現地での人道支援活動は著しく制限されています。
