See what WFP is doing to prevent famine

  • Nigeria

Throughout 2017, WFP has distributed food or — where markets are functioning — cash (including mobile phone-based transfers) to more than a million people monthly in Yobe, Adamawa and Borno, the states hardest hit by the crisis.

  • Somalia

In August, WFP provided a mix of food, cash and nutrition support to 2.2 million people - including 764,000 mothers and children -in the worst affected areas. This is almost five times the number of people we reached in January this year.

  • South Sudan

In July alone, WFP assisted 2.9 million people — a record compared to previous hunger seasons and up from 1.75 million in July 2016.

  • Yemen

In August, WFP provided food assistance to 7million people. Due to lack of funding, many received reduced rations.

People are dying NOW. Help us to save lives and defeat famine.
