2020年の世界食料デーのテーマは、「育て、養い、持続させる。共に。―未来をつくる私たちのアクション。」です。世界各国が新型コロナウイルス感染症（COVID-19）の世界的大流行の広範な影響の対処に追われる中、今年の世界食料デーは、世界が、そしてとくに最も脆弱な人々が、危機から回復することを目指し、持続可能でレジリエンスあるフードシステムの構築に向けた世界的な連帯と協力を呼び掛けています。また私たちは、生産者や食品業界の方々を含め、厳しい状況の中でも食料が農場から私たちの食卓に至る過程を支え続けているフードヒーローを称えます。
国連WFP日本事務所は、国連食糧農業機関（FAO）駐日連絡事務所、国際農業開発基金（IFAD）との共催で、10月16日（金）に日本人を主な対象としたオンラインイベントを開催します。ローマに本部を置き、食料・農業分野の課題に取り組む国連3機関が集うこのイベントでは、持続可能な開発目標（SDGs）にも掲げられている、飢餓と栄養不良のない世界を実現する方法について話し合います。パネルディスカッションは、日本担当FAO親善大使であるキャスターの国谷裕子氏が司会を務めます。

World Food Day Event 2020
“Grow, Nourish, Sustain. Together. Our Actions are our Future”
With events organized in over 150 countries around the world, #WorldFoodDay is one of the most celebrated days in the UN calendar. They promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure healthy diets for all. This year’s theme is “Grow, nourish, sustain. Together. Our actions are our future”. As countries are dealing with the widespread effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, World Food Day 2020 will call on countries to build more resilient and robust food systems and for global solidarity to help all populations, and especially the most vulnerable to recover from the crisis. We celebrate #FoodHeroes, farmers and workers throughout the food system, who are making sure that food makes its way from farm to table despite these challenging times.
On 16 October, World Food Programme (WFP) Japan Relations Office, jointly with Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Liaison Office in Japan and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) , will organize an online event, mainly for the Japanese audience. With the attendance of the three Rome-based agencies working in the area of food and agriculture, the event will discuss ways to realize a world free from hunger and malnutrition and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The panel discussion will be moderated by Ms Hiroko Kuniya, a newscaster.
